Boulder, CO

We are loving our stay in Boulder. Friday we left Grand Juntion around 11am. We really enjoyed the drive through the Rockies...having beautiful scenery certainly makes a long drive more enjoyable.

We stopped in Breckenridge at the Breckenridge brewery for a few pints of beer and a picnic lunch on the mountainside. After our lunch break, we made our way to Boulder. The weather was drizzling rain and in the 40s, but it has been so long since we have seen rain that we really had no complaints! We got to Maggie's house around 5pm. After unpacking the car, meeting the 2 dogs, and getting re-acquainted (since Maggie and I hadn't seen eachother in at least 10 years) we went for Sushi at Maggie's favorite Sushi restaurant. Her boyfriend, Ryan, met us there after he got off work. We ended up sitting in the "tea room" which meant we sat Indian style on the floor. It seemed pretty neat at first, but after a few hours sitting like that, our legs were pretty numb. :-) We left dinner and went to a bar on Pearl Street just for a beer before coming back to Maggie's house to just hang out for the rest of the night. I think we ended staying up until almost 3am just talking and catching up!

Saturday morning was rainy and cold again, a perfect day to go downtown to the Tea House and have afternoon tea. We then came back to the house and watched a movie before going to the Southern Sun Brewery for dinner. Colorado is known for all its micro-breweries, and we definitely got introduced to a variety of beers while we were there.

Sunday we went on a hike on the "Red Rocks" trail. It was a straight up hike for about a mile but once we got to the top, the view was worth it. You could see all of downtown Boulder from the top. After our hike, we walked throughout downtown Boulder and saw all the beautiful houses, bars, shops and restaurants. My favorite part was the middle walkway, full of tulips of all colors. That night we had dinner at "The Attic" and then went back to Maggie's house to hang out and play "Apples to Apples" --- a very fun game, I must say! Unfortunately, we have to leave Monday morning to start an 800 mile long drive....
